Ford Falcon

Compared to American standards at the time, the first generation Falcons produced from 1960 to 1963 were small cars, They would, of course, still be big in present day standards since the American big three – GM, Ford, and Chrysler – historically favored the big and more profitable cars. The Falcon is the longest-running Ford car line. The Falcon name was dropped from the US production and other overseas factories, but the name continues today with units produced in Ford’s Australian branch. From 1960 to 2003, more than 3 million Falcons have been sold in Australia and New Zealand alone. According to 2007 automotive sales records, Ford sells more than 3 thousand Falcons per month. The 2008 Falcon signals the entry of the seventh generation of the car line. Known as the “FG” series referring to the discontinued Fairmont Ghia, the new Falcon was introduced February 17, 2008. The car is considered by many car critics and reviewers as the most advanced Falcon car and among the best cars fully built in Australia. The current Falcon line – the G6, GSE, and the Turbocharged G6E - replaced the Fairmont and Futura in the line-up. The FG series includes the Falcon XR6, XR8, and XT. The XT version is available in wagon and sedan variants, and for good measure, there is also a UTE type. The XR6 and XR8 are sedans that are roomy enough, 504 liters of boot space, for an entire family. The wagons, when seats are up, double the space provided by the sedans. And there are LPG powered sedans and wagons, but with considerably reduced boot space. Inside, the new Ford Falcon is as impressive as the previous models. The seats are cloth wrapped, are power adjustable, and come with lumbar support. Necessary safety features like front and side airbags and pre-tensioned seatbelts are standard. There is no lack of entertainment with a hundred-watt audio system and LCD that are standard in the XR6. An uprated audio system is available in the RX6 sedan turbo and XR8. A 15-liter fridge and a child organizer are available as options. In the open road, the used Ford Falcon is even more impressive. Underneath the sensuous bonnet of the XR6 and the XT is a 4.0-liter DI-VCT DOHC I6 valve engine that generates 195 kW and torque of 391 Nm. The turbo XR6 is a wonder – 270 KW and torque of 533 Nm between 2000 rpm to 4750 rpm. A prospective Falcon buyer will surely find it difficult to choose which version to pick, as each engine has their own unique characteristics. But, definitely, it will prove to be a good one.
