Used Citroen 2CV

The 2CV is a car model that was manufactured by French car maker Citroen from 1949 to 1990. The model was designed to be an economy car; sort of a people’s car, likened to the Volkswagen Beetle. The 2CV is one of Citroen’s most well known and iconic car models since it was meant to be economical, low cost, simple, versatile, and reliable. Also, during that time, the construction and design of the car was more technologically advanced than its peers. It was also meant for road and even off-road driving, even though the car only had a 2 wheel drive system with the front wheels providing the driving power. The Citroen 2CV’s engine is of light construction and can be serviced easily. It features a 4 speed manual transmission that can get the car up to speeds of more than 70 kilometers per hour. The engine is of an air cooling design, which meant that it did not need a radiator, cooling system, or a water pump. This added to the engine’s reliability. Also, different models featured different engine power levels, which gave the consumers the ability to choose which type of engine will suit them best. The suspension provides a surprisingly smooth riding experience with the vehicle height being adjustable. The car can easily be rocked from side to side by the passenger with the car maintaining its stability even during motion. This system is designed to stabilise the car even during high speed movement over rough terrain. If the car encounters a bump, the suspension system shifts the force to the back wheels to keep the front wheels on the ground. And since the car is a front wheel drive, it can be maneuvered easily and efficiently even by a first-time driver. The body of the used Citroen 2CV is made of a dual H-frame chassis and covered by a lightweight steel shell. The doors are front-bolted, opening from the front. This is popularly known as a “suicide” door configuration. The car features a selection of either the standard solid steel covering for a roof, or an optional canvas covering that can be rolled back, creating a sunroof for a more leisurely travel. The Citroen 2CV is designed to be a technologically advanced yet economical car model for the 20th century driver. It features a user friendly cockpit, although some of the car functions, such as the windshield wiper system, will need to be operated manually.
